PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAA family run establishment in every sense of the word, Inkari Latin American Cafe opened its doors on the ever popular Lygon Street in October of 2004. With many neighbouring Italian eateries, the locals were a little apprehensive at first but soon the amazing smells, mouth watering cuisine, vibrant colours, funky tunes and warm hospitality won them over.
Chef Silvia has travelled extensively throughout South and Central America and the Caribbean and brings the best of Latin America to Inkari’s kitchen for us to enjoy. Start with the empanadas: a Latin American savoury pastry designed for sharing with meat, corn, cheese or chicken options, each with their own distinct and unique flavour. Follow with the quinoa and potato gratin served in a hot pot, comprising quinoa cereal grain with potato, onions, cream and tasty cheese mixed through with vine-ripened tomato sauce and baked to perfection. Finish with one of Inkari’s own hot chocolate submarines such as the original Aztec Submarine served in a tall glass with hot milk, Mexican chocolate buttons, honey, vanilla and a unique blend of Mexican chillies and cinnamon – that’s certain to warm the throat and delight the palate. Inkari’s wine list proudly boasts a selection of Latin American varieties that complement the cuisine to perfection.
